Are Happy Valley Chiropractors Regulated

Chiropractic care has been around since 1895. The name Chiropractic care has a Greek origin that means “done by hand.” Interestingly, the Chiropractic care profession has made many milestone advancements since that time.

A self-made healer named Daniel David Palmer has been credited for the introduction of Chiropractic care. Palmer hailed from Davenport, Iowa. He was inspired to develop a solution to help people struggling with diseases and illnesses that was not drug-based. In order to do so, he had to study and understand the spine’s structure, body physiology, and know how to heal people with the use of his hands (the art of manipulation) as practiced in the ancient times. In the process, Palmer started a chiropractic school known as Palmer School of Chiropractic. Since its inception, the school is still in existence to date.

All doctors that pass through Chiropractic accredited colleges must undergo a 4-5 year training courses. Within these years, there is a minimum of 4,200 hours worth of classes, laboratory sessions and clinical experience that students must cover.

With the education received, students get the opportunity to get a deep understanding of the structural and functional components of the human body in relation to health and diseases.

This educational program offers training in various areas including primary medical sciences that include physiology, anatomy, and biochemistry. As a result, the education Happy Valley Chiropractors undergo, not only helps them diagnose but to also treat patients.

Practice

Chiropractors have specialized in treating patients suffering from muscle and spinal joint problems. Some of these problems include low back pain, pains in the neck, osteoarthritis, and conditions in the spinal discs.

Most Happy Valley chiropractors combine spinal adjustment with other therapies when treating. These other therapies include mechanical/electrical therapies, hot/cold treatments, physical rehabilitation, and rehabilitation exercises.

Just like other medical care providers, chiropractors also take into consideration the patient’s health history, after which they proceed to conduct a medical examination of the patient. Some of the major areas they investigate during the examination include:[Text Wrapping Break]Muscle strength/weakness, structural problems, the posture when taking different positions, and the motion’s spinal range.

The providers also conduct regular nervous system test as a well as an orthopedic test just like is the norm in other medical professions.

The regulation of the Chiropractic professions is available at two levels:

The first level comes in the form of national board certification through the National Board of Chiropractors Examiners. The board has the mandate to formulate standards used in the chiropractic practice.

The second level certification is done at the state level. This certification follows certain state laws. The certification requirements may vary from one state to the other. However, one requirement that’s common in all states is that the candidate for licensing must have acquired training through a Council of Chiropractic Education accredited institution. In addition, most states have a requirement that chiropractors should undergo continuing training course every year to maintain their license.
